THCPA 2010-2011 Main Attractions & Rainbow Room Series: A Luminous Celebration

On the Main Stage... With the 2010-2011 Main Attractions season, Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts will honor the Grand Old Lady with a “luminous celebration.” Events span the gamut from popular music to outlandish comedy, and searing drama to foot-stomping fiddling. Take a trip back in time to the jitterbugging, big-band music of the 1940s or the squeals of delight of 1960s Beatlemania. Rise in tribute to the newly crowned Queen of R&B and listen to the unforgettable musical journey of an Irishman’s remarkable Dublin childhood. In the Rainbow Room... Located on the second floor of historic Thalian Hall, a delightfully intimate setting where guests enjoy performances by some of today’s top names in cabaret entertainment. Offering four 60-minute nightclub sets per weekend, with cozy table seating plus wine, beer and other beverages, the Rainbow Room is the perfect destination for patrons who wish to enjoy dinner or Sunday brunch in downtown restaurants before or after the performance. The coming season’s four Rainbow Room weekends feature jazz, acclaimed singersongwriters and rib-tickling comedy. Visit thalianhall.org to learn more.

"Turning Loose" opens on Friday, August 27th featuring the works of Warren Dennis of Boone and Durham artist Nancy Tuttle May. Dennis, a retired art professor from Appalachian University, is known for his playful and sometimes provocative figurative work.
