 World-Maker for Diego, Manny, and Sid 10:00AM - 6:00PM 
An exhibition of landscape paintings by Xiangyuan (Jay) Jie featuring imagery of both the eastern and western United States runs through March 20th at Walls Fine Art Gallery in Wilmington, NC.

Xiangyuan (Jay) Jie, a native of Hunan, China, now lives and paints full time in Atlanta, GA. He received his formal art education in China, Europe, and the United States. In 1982, Jie graduated with a BFA in theater set design from the Central Academy of Drama at Beijing. He then taught art and design at Hunan University. In 1987 and 1988, Jie studied and lectured at the Ecole Cantonal d’ Art de Lausanne, Switzerland. Upon immigrating to the United States, Jie taught at Auburn University as a visiting professor. In 1995, he received his master’s degree in industrial design from Georgia Tech. Since then, he had been working at the Disney and Fox Feature Animation studios as a background stylist and visual development artist. His screen credits include Mulan, Tarzan, Lilo & Stitch, Brother Bear, Ice Age 2 - The Meltdown.

 THE WORLD IN BLACK & WHITE 10:00AM - 5:00PM 
Black and white photography from around the world will be on display at the Wilmington Art Association's Gallery through the month of March . The exhibit is entitled "The World in Black and White" and features fine art photography by Gordon C. Webb. The local artist relocated to the Wilmington area after retiring from teaching at Ithaca College (Ithaca, NY). Continues thru March 25 at the Wilmington Art Gallery -- located at 616 Castle Street, and is open Tuesday thru Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (closed Sunday and Monday)

NC Black Film Festival: Opening Night Reception

Our 2010 Distinguished Filmmaker honoree Scott Sanders will be featured at the opening reception, which will also mark the official opening of the Cameron Art Museum exhibition "Recollection: The Past is Present." The exhibition features the works of Amalia Amaki, Lillian Blades and Beverly as well as African American quilts on loan from the Mississippi Museum of Art. The reception is free and open to the public.

The North Carolina Black Film Festival spotlights features, shorts, documentaries and animation by and about African Americans, with cash prizes awarded to the best works in each genre.

Unlike a traditional night at the movies or theatre where you watch a story unfold before you, Mulligan's Wake incorporates the audience into the action while they dine on superb Irish fare. The actors move among the audience, have conversations with them – and sometimes make them part of the show.


Dress up for the funeral and be prepared upon arrival to meet a crazy Irish-Catholic family who have all gathered for a final, over-the-top farewell celebration. Audience members can interact with the cast, join in or sit back and relax. There will be a upscale Irish dinner and a wake to honor the memory of dear ole' Rory. This Irish celebration is full of drinking, toasting, dancing and singing – a hilarious form of entertainment full of twists and turns that will leave you and your friends in stitches
