A native of southwestern Virginia, Logan has an undergraduate degree in history from The College of William and Mary and a masters degree in Visual and Interactive Communications from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.

She is a member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association, National Press Photographers Association and the North Carolina Press Photographers Association.
